“Land of dystopia/
Spiritual myopia.”

These of you who are in NYC and have no plans in the pretty near upcoming can be part of me at this march in Brooklyn at 5 PM today.

Not in New York Town or normally not offered? Do not stress! I have a week’s value of activism solutions for individuals in NYC and throughout the country in my most current Indivisible Activate NYC publication.

On the educational front, there is no time like the existing to study (or re-read through) the well known 4th of July speech by statesman/orator/abolitionist Frederick Douglass. If you’re additional of a listener than a reader, you’re in luck, because you can listen to James Earl Jones go through it.

When I re-examine this speech myself, one factor of it always hits me differently than the previous time, relying on present-day activities. Now it is this passage:

There are seventy-two crimes in the State of Virginia, which, if committed by a black man, (no matter how ignorant he be), subject matter him to the punishment of dying even though only two of the similar crimes will matter a white person to the like punishment.

How very little has changed, and how really hard we need to struggle! But really do not despair. As Coretta Scott King said, “Freedom is never actually won. You gain it and earn it in each and every generation.” Let us acquire.
