THIS festive season, Sunway Malls aims to ensure that those who need relief will be provided aid through its Sunway Malls “Niu” Hope Charity initiative.
As Malaysians gear up to celebrate the Lunar New Year this month, many are unfortunately left without a roof over their heads because of the worsening floods in Pahang, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan and Johor.
For the next few weeks, these families will have to find shelter at makeshift centres while waiting for floodwaters to recede.
In the spirit of giving and #KitaSupportKita, Sunway Malls has risen above the tide to rally support from Malaysians by donating what they can to help the affected families.
Throughout January and beginning of February, Sunway Malls’ Flood Aid, in partnership with Malaysian Red Crescent Society, has organised donation drives to collect essential items to ease the lives of the 21,000 people in flood relief centres nationwide, as well as support underprivileged families through the Lost Food Project.
Sunway Malls & Theme Parks chief executive HC Chan said each new year represented a new beginning and renewed spirit to overcome hurdles with tenacity and strength.
“We want to continue supporting those in need, and together with the generous and kind help of all Malaysians, we believe we are able to affect good change and improve the lives of others in these trying times, ” he added.
The items required include adult and children diapers, sanitary pads, individually wrapped biscuits, mineral water, teabag, instant noodles in cup, sarong, bath towels, disposable underwear, wet wipes and packet drinks.
The public can drop off the items at designated donation boxes at all participating malls, namely Sunway Pyramid, Putra Mall, Velocity Mall, Carnival Mall and Big Box and Giza Mall.
Alternatively, donations can be made through the Sunway Pals app with Sunway Pay.
The public may opt from three personal care packages in differing values, consisting of diapers, wet wipes, shower gel and more.
Upon donation, the items will be purchased and contributed to the cause.
