I have penned a few of weblogs more than the final couple of months that I did not truly publish. I’m not sure why, but I’m going to just go with the thought that if I thought they had been any fantastic, I’d have concluded crafting and posted them!
Today though, I do actually have one thing worthy of creating about. It’s a story of authentic local community and collaboration, of crazy thoughts, tough perform and heaps of love…
About this time previous calendar year (wow! It was that extensive ago, I just looked it up!!) I was asked to be component of a team exhibition of artists that have been possibly influenced by or worked alongside the river Severn. I almost claimed no, as I usually seen to be completely snowed underneath with commissions and never get any time to make just about anything other than that.
I did not say no though…I decided to dedicate to undertaking something, that had become just a tiny outside my convenience zone. I joined the Severn Sisters and we set on our very first exhibition at 7Q Gallery in Chepstow.
The exhibition appeared amazing and pretty great revenue were manufactured, but I want to convey to you about our “second” event….Open up House……
It was all the courageous idea of Annie Brennan, who we have now all named our “mother superior”. An concept based mostly all-around equivalent exhibitions that she’d visited/listened to of in city centres – all of the “sisters” placing on an exhibition about a weekend, in her household. So, just after some conferences, some snacks and a couple of drinks, with no marketing price range and no concept if anyone would appear, we made a decision to go for it!
Well… I feel the only phrases to explain this previous weekend are resounding results!! There had been 13 of us included all jointly, and basically by some social media sharing and a little bit of leaflet printing on our dwelling printers, people today did obtain out at about it – loads of people in reality! It just goes to display that if you put your intellect to it, and give your pretty very best hard work, anything at all is probable!
For me however, the actual accomplishment has been obtaining this wonderful team of ladies (and just one token gentleman of program) that have just been so supportive to each other all through the organisation and the real party. Over the earlier handful of weeks, but particularly throughout the Open Property alone, we chatted about so quite a few matters and shared so several laughs. Theres definitely been hugs, but to be sincere, it feels like the Severn Sisters are just a person huge consistent hug. The way that the group just gelled was of course noticed by our guests as just one of them considered that we all lived and worked alongside one another in Annie’s home!
We’re all different ages, from distinct destinations and backgrounds and have various views, likes and dislikes, and that is unquestionably alright. I really feel so privileged to have been questioned to be part of this remarkable small group and I just can’t wait to begin wondering about what we do following!
