With glamorous ballgowns, upcycled denim and everything in between, Syracuse Fashion Week 2022 held its final runway show Saturday night at Washington Luxury Apartments.
The former NYNEX building underwent a $43 million renovation in recent years, transforming the upper nine floors of the 10-story building into more than 200 luxury apartments with panoramic views of the Syracuse skyline.
A runway took over the lounge on one of the building’s upper floors, with models circling the audience seated on casual couches and banquettes. The building was built in 1970 and housed the offices of New York Telephone Co. and its successor, Nynex. It sat vacant for many years before the “New York City style living” remodel.
Here are some highlights from the final night of Syracuse Fashion Week 2022:

Syracuse Fashion Week 2022 held its final runway show at Washington Luxury Apartments on Saturday, April 9, 2022.
· Kicking off the show was Kalthom Aljiboury, an independent designer who graduated from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University. Aljiboury’s line featured long majestic styled gowns and cover ups. Each piece is heavily detailed and beaded with beautiful stitch work.
· A mother-daughter collection from designer Ezmira Neshawait featured thrifted and upcycled matching looks. The designer said she wanted to create pieces as unique as each relationship between mother and daughter. One of the mother-daughter pairs skipped down the runway in jeans, converse, and white tutus, styling their hair with pink highlights and purple ribbons.

· Lucky Mae’s Closet took the runway for a second night in a row, this time with a modern-day twist to Netflix’s Bridgerton. The elaborate vintage and retro-inspired clothing pieces were paired with garters, stockings, headdresses, and beading. The models wore white and colored bustiers and corsets and grandiose wigs.
· Students from the Cazenovia College fashion department changed the pace of the show as models rocked the runway in their upcycled denim outfits. The college’s “Look Again” project repurposes garments donated to The Key consignment shop, transforming the everyday items into one-of-a-kind fashion statements.
The students sent two collections down the runway, including a floral prints and swimwear paired with tan wedges and colorful pumps.
· Bliss Bridal of Baldwinsville shared several elaborate wedding gowns, as well as bridesmaid dresses and prom attire.
· The Alter Ego closed the show with colorful mesh cardigans, bikini wraps, leggings and crop tops. One of the models walked the runway in a blue tutu styled one piece that she paired with an orange head piece. Rainbow veils, skirts and accessories danced down the runway, including a belt emblazoned with the word ‘HUMAN’ in rainbow print.
